The Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is a track-inspired sports supercar powered by a 4.0L flat 6-cylinder engine that utilizes forged pistons, where the connecting rods are forged titanium while carrying the same crankshaft used with the 911 GT3 race cars. This combination allows the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 to deliver 500 hp at 8,250 rpm with a maximum torque of 339 lb-ft at 5,750 rpm. It offers carbon fiber sport bucket seats, carbon fiber front fenders and luggage compartment lid, and weight-optimized carpets. The 911 GT3 RS 4.0′s power-to-weight ratio is 5.99 lbs/hp.

Press Release:
FORD RACING ANNOUNCES 2012 COBRA JET MUSTANG
DEARBORN, Mich. – December 9, 2010 – Since its legendary introduction at the NHRA Winternationals in 1968, Ford’s Cobra Jet Mustang has created a legacy of power, performance and triumph that has carried through the decades.
In 2008, Ford Racing unveiled the 40th Anniversary Cobra Jet Mustang, which promptly lived up to the legend of the original version, duplicating the NHRA Winternationals victory in its inaugural race. The subsequent 2010 Cobra Jet, built on the 2010 Mustang platform, has been setting class records and is competitive at drag strips across the country.
Today, Ford Racing unveiled the 2012 Cobra Jet Mustang at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show in Orlando, Fla., and announced the intention to build 50 turn-key 2012 CJ’s. For the first time the Cobra Jet will be available in three color options—Race Red, Grabber Blue and Winner White—and coordinated graphics.
For decades, the Mustang has been the preeminent car in many forms of racing, including drag racing. The 2008 and 2010 Cobra Jet Mustang added to that legacy with high- profile wins at the NHRA Winternationals and U.S. Nationals, and by setting numerous Stock and Super Stock class records across the country.
The goal for the 2012 Cobra Jet is to build a turn-key race car ready to take its own place in NHRA history. The same as its predecessors in 2008 and 2010 it’s a factory-built race car intended for NHRA Stock and Super Stock racing that can also be campaigned in other racing sanctioning bodies such as NMRA, NMCA, PSCA and IHRA. The 2012 CJ will come with all of the features of the 2010 car including a full race-prepared automatic transmission, drag race-specific shocks and springs, manual steering and brakes, 8.50 certified rollcage, and an Aeromotive return-style fuel system with trunk-mounted fuel cell.
For 2012, the Cobra Jet features a 5.4L supercharged engine based on the 2011 SVT Mustang with two supercharger options, a 2.3 liter TVS unit or a 4.0 liter Ford Racing Whipple supercharger. Each vehicle has an aluminum block engine, standard automatic transmission, double keyed crankshaft, Manley H-beam connecting rods, low-drag racing brakes and optimized spring rates for the front and rear. Additionally the Cobra Jet will feature black anodized Cobra Jet wheels from Weld Racing and a new compound tire with unique Cobra Jet branding from Goodyear.
The same as Ford Racing’s Mustang FR500S and the 2010 Cobra Jet, this ready to race Mustang will get its start at the Auto Alliance International (AAI) assembly plant in Flat Rock, Mich. in the first quarter of 2011. The entire 50-car run of 2012 Cobra Jets will be built on the same production line that produces the 2012 Ford Mustang production car.
The MSRP for the M-FR500-CJ is $91,900 with a fully loaded Cobra Jet priced at $103,980.
For racers who want to build their own cars, there is a Mustang Competition Roller based on the Cobra Jet that is serialized and complete, minus the power train. The third option would be to start with a Mustang Body-In-White or a donor car since nearly all of the CJ components can be found in the Ford Performance Parts catalog found online at fordracingparts.com.

Which Countries Have the Worst Road Safety Records?

Which Countries Have the Worst Road Safety Records

According to the World Health Organisation, well over one million people are killed every year throughout the world in road traffic accidents, making them  one of the main causes of death.  They are the leading cause of death for children and young people aged between ten and nineteen.  The problem is most severe in developing countries, with 90% of road traffic accidents occuring in low and mid-income countries, with those in parts of south-east Asia, Latin America and Africa having the highest rates.

Africa may generally have the fewest cars, with between 10-20 per thousand owning a vehicle, against 600 in Europe and 800 in the United States, but holds the worst world safety record.  Statistics compiled by the WHO showing road deaths per 100,000 of the population reveal worryingly high levels.  For instance, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has figures of 32.2, the Gambia 36.6, while the toll rises alarmingly in Eritrea to 48.4.  Even in South Africa, one of the continent’s most developed countries, the figures are 33.2.

A conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in November 2011 reckoned that road deaths would increase unless leaders implemented a plan to address the problem, which currently causes most young peoples’ deaths, only behind malaria.  This is a terrible loss of population, impacting not only emotionally buut economically, with the loss of future workers.  Hospital resources are overstretched, especially when it is considered that the figures shown are for fatalities and do not cover the enormous number of road traffic injuries sustained.

Latin America had one of the worst road safety records in 2011, with over 130,000 fatalities and severe injuries.  It is one of the world’s most urbanised areas, and nearly 40% of the population live in poverty.  Pakistan’s record contrasts with India’s, having 25.3 deaths per 100,000 compared with 11.1.  A recent newspaper report of a head-on collision between two buses in Pakistan states that this is a recurring problem, and is a reminder that many accidents involve public transport and not just private vehicles.  As with many under-developed countries, there is a lack of stringent regulations and checks on both driving and vehicle safety.

In Europe, generally speaking, the eastern countries fare worst in the safety statistics, including the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, although Greece has the highest risk of death closely followed by Portugal and Hungary.  There is anecdotal evidence of a careless attitude in some countries, with crash helmets in Greece being regarded as optional in spite of the law, while in Spain a crack-down on driving without seatbelts and drink-driving has only recently become successful.  British holidaymakers attempting to cross the road at zebra crossings are certainly aware that a different attitude prevails abroad.

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti: What makes it the fastest car?

Ferrari is often seen and heard in different forms of media for its high speed and the number of crashing stories over different roads. However, its latest model- Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is getting popular for some other reasons. It is now being considered by the police department counting over its rocket speed of 320 km per hour (or 199 miles per hour). This latest machine was designed simply replace the earlier smaller models of 456M. The present big size simply makes this model a true four seater car having sufficient space over the rear seats for adult people. Now, let’s check out what makes Ferrari 612 Scaglietti among the fastest car in this world.

It’s the engine and weight saving technology which makes the difference

If you dig slightly deep into Ferrari 612 Scaglietti to check its specifications and compare with other cars, you could easily understand why this car is among the fastest ones. It is designed by the folks from Pininfarina, which is powered by the engine of 5.7 L. The presence of such high end engine makes this car a supercar, which has the potentials to move at an incredible speed of 199 miles per hour. If you compare it with similar kind of police car models including the Lamborghini Gallardo found in Italy, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti seems to be leading in many ways. Secondly, if you check at the weight of this machine, it is engineered with all aluminum technology, which makes the car light and fast. So, the basic reasons why this car is among the fastest is the high end engine and all aluminum technology that makes it light and sporty.

Check some special features

Digging deep into its specs, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti features a space frame chassis made exclusively through special heat treatments, which made the alloy panels more resistant to things like deformation. The 540-horsepower 5748cc V-12 carried four valves in each and every cylinder, which are made through light alloy, along with having a completely new exhaust system meant to slash down the back pressure. This was positioned far behind towards the front axle for excellent handling.
Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is among the first model to have the Control for Stability and Traction or CST technology, which empowers the users. This technology simply works for antiskid and antilock functions, which also had both normal and sport settings. The buyers had options while buying this car, either to opt for a traditional six speed manual transmission car or go for an updated version carrying the F1 derived paddle shift system.

A responsible design

According to Massimo Fedeli (Managing Director) of Ferrari calls 612 Scaglietti as a high performance car, wherein the company simply focused to design features which could help people to enjoy fast and secure driving experience. During the 60th anniversary tour, the company found this opportunity as the best time to render 612 Scaglietti HGTS car to the police services based in Ireland, England and Wales. The company calls the design of this car as a responsible design from the company as it has the elements of safety along with high speed. The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti HGTS is considered as a perfect choice for the activities carried out by the police with a four full seats vehicle with added elements of safety and responsibility.

Final word

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is named after a popular coachbuilder called Sergio Scaglietti and is considered as a perfect blend of comfort, luxury, performance and speed. You can enjoy a smooth car drive with speed and security along with accommodating three additional people while enjoying high speed with utter luxury. That’s the style of Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.
